How To Use

The new Matte Paste is an improved version of the 2015 formula. It’s infused with clays, oils and waxes that help improve hair and scalp appearance. It is now more pliable that our original formula and is better suited for modern styles.
Why did it change?
1. They’ve upgraded the quality of ingredients, infusing it with oils, clays and waxes that are good for your hair and scalp.
2. They’ve updated the performance to be more workable and pliable. The original version was very tacky and very hard to work through once applied which reduced its versatility and only made it ideal for short hair.
The original formula will be re-released as Matte Paste Classic eventually.
The new Matte Paste is infused with oils, clays and waxes that make it more water-resistant, but it is still a water-based product meaning that it will wash out with a shampooing of the hair.
We recommend that the new Matte Paste be applied to dry hair for best results with respect to hold, texture and a dry finish. If you’d like to get a natural shine and less a textured look, apply to lightly damp hair.
The Matte Paste features a dry and matte finish that is best for choppy, messy and textured looks. The Clay Pomade features a light and natural shine that is best for weightless flow and control.
The new formula is awful. The product has completely changed. It doesn’t hold as well as it previously did. It used to be water soluble but now doesn’t wash out your hair and is really hard to wash off your hands. Won’t be buying it again.
A great product. I love water based hair products and have tried quite a few now, and this is up there.
The product goes in easy, did nicely as you work it and holds well through the day. In high winds, you might get a slightly blown away look, but the good is still there and that blown away look can also work. It also handles a beany hat really well, retaining some bounce and volume when removed.
It needs warmer water than other water based products too really wash out fully, but I find a little residue left sometimes assists once my hair is a little longer to get that messy look.
This is now my go to product and I can happily use it and get decent results from having freshly cut fairly short hair all the way to having left it a good few weeks past the point of desperately needing a hair cut.
